Food Wastage - a Global Challenge

Global food wastage is the world’s third largest producer of greenhouse gas emissions, after China and the US. Globally discarded food could feed three billion people. We throw away 1.5 million tonnes of waste food each year in Sweden alone.

Food waste and wastage must be prevented and reduced throughout the entire food supply chain. Recycling is important for all food and other organic waste for which no use can be found.

With its circular farming process, Bonbio is helping to make the most of unavoidable food waste in a sustainable way.

From Organic Waste to New Crops

Bonbio is a turnkey provider operating in the field of circular farming and crop production. What makes our concept unique is the fact that we include all steps of the entire value chain - from waste food and other organic waste to new crops - to create a circular economy.

We have developed a proprietary circular farming concept where we make the most of waste food, refining it into organic plant nutrients - Bonbio Nutrients.

We then use these plant nutrients to grow crops of various kinds - Bonbio Greens - in high-tech farming containers that can be positioned directly adjacent to customers’ operations and near to end consumers. This closes the circular farming cycle.
